Empowering Women in Adaptive Golf: Introducing Women’s G4D

You may have heard the term G4D – Golf for the Disabled, but if you haven't, you certainly won't be alone. G4D is a term used for golf played by people with disabilities and covers a wide range of disabilities and levels of the game, from people picking up a club for the first time, enjoying golf socially through to players competing nationally and internationally.

I set up Women’s G4D in 2024 because, as a golfer with a disability myself, I could see that women were still significantly under-represented within this part of the game. I wanted to create something that put women front and centre – somewhere they could connect with other women with similar experiences, find out about opportunities within golf and, importantly, feel part of a community.

Building a UK and International Community

Since then, Women’s G4D has been working with organisations across golf to create more opportunities. These range from community and introductory golf, meet-ups and opportunities to experience professional golf, through to pro-ams and support for women who want to compete nationally or internationally.

And it's growing. Women’s G4D isn't based in one particular area. We're building a community across the UK and increasingly connecting women internationally too.

A Pretty Awesome Day at Centurion 💜

Earlier this month, we brought together a fantastic group of women with disabilities and long-term health conditions for a special Women’s G4D day at the PIF London Championship at Centurion Club.

Some were meeting for the first time, while others were reconnecting with friends. We watched some incredible golf, spent time on the range hitting balls alongside the female professionals and finished with a Q&A with Ladies European Tour player Maha Haddioui.

But the best bit? Simply bringing women together. Sharing experiences, making new friendships, laughing a lot and seeing other women like themselves enjoying the game. That's a huge part of what Women’s G4D is about. Golf might be what brings us together, but it's the friendships, confidence, opportunities and sense of belonging that can make the biggest difference.
