YVONNE BROOKE
Meet The Founder
Yvonne Brooke launched The Women’s Golf Lounge (originally The Ladies Golf Lounge) in May 2020, inspired by the challenges brought on by the UK’s first Covid lockdown. With a background in health and fitness, Yvonne had also served as a golf club general manager, where she witnessed first-hand the barriers many women face within golf and its traditional culture.
An avid golfer since her mid-twenties, Yvonne searched for an online space where female golfers could connect, share experiences, and support one another during lockdown. Having already managed a few Facebook groups, she joined several golf-related ones but quickly noticed they were dominated by men. While some responses to her posts were friendly, others were sarcastic or dismissive. When she couldn’t find a dedicated women’s space, she decided to create one herself—and The Ladies Golf Lounge was born.
