Being Lady Captain can place pressure of the purse strings - here are some money tips from our Lady Captain Adviser to help!
- Golf trip? Look at stay and play packages, so you’re not paying for individual rounds of golf.
- Always be prepared with extras in your golf bag or car boot so you don’t have to purchase a new glove, hat, tees or balls when you forget yours.
- Need to perk your game? Check out free video tutorials on social media / YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok.
- Gather a few pals (maybe some new members) and arrange a group lesson, rather than going solo.
- Practice facilities – buy a punch card or pass instead of paying for individual sessions.
- Volunteer to play in matches against other teams. If selected, these are a great way to meet new pals and to play other courses at very little cost.
- Don’t forget ladies’ opens too – if there’s a course you’d love to play, it’s always worth checking if they have an open competition you could play in. These tend to be cheaper than paying the ‘full’ rate.
- When refreshing your wardrobe, buy colours that match or interchange with some items you already have, so you don’t feel you have to buy a full outfit every time.
- Looking at buying a new driver? Why not look at last year’s model, or even a couple of years old. The technology will still be amazing, but cheaper than the newest model.
- As Lady Captain, don’t forget that many courses will allow you courtesy for a round.
- Many ladies’ locker rooms now have a ‘bargain rail’ where ladies can add those items at the back of the wardrobe they never use much, or perhaps have never worn! Voluntary donations to the Lady Captain’s Charity can mean a bargain for the purchaser, more wardrobe space for the donor, and a happy Lady Captain!
- How about jigsaws and books? Same as the ‘bargain rail’ above, and much cheaper than buying brand new all the time.
- Buying prizes or gifts? Do look out for offers in good time.
- Having a ladies’ meal out – lunch or dinner – look out for offers – specific days of the week or times of the day. Why not share a dessert – save pennies and calories too!
