We’ve just got back from another fabulous Women's Golf Lounge International Women's Day Event weekend celebrating International Women’s Day — and honestly… what a weekend it was.
This is the second year Surprizeshop has supported this amazing event. After last year, we thought it would be hard to beat 2025, but WOW… 2026 was something else.
Around 80 women from across the UK came together for the famous England vs Rest of the World matchplay competition. Last year Team Rest of the World took the title, so Team England arrived ready to fight back. This year was also the first time both teams had team captains, which definitely added a bit more competitive spirit!

An Early Start (and a Pizza Hat!)
We arrived bright and early at 7am to set up our Surprizeshop Pop-Up Shop and get the goodie bags ready for the players. We also launched some exclusive WGL Forest Pines 2026 merchandise with Yvonne, which was a really fun addition to the weekend.
The very first golfer we saw walk through the door was wearing… a pizza hat. At that point we knew it was going to be a brilliant weekend!
The goodie bags went down a treat and included:
-
Purple socks to celebrate International Women’s Day
-
A custom Women’s Golf Lounge ball marker
-
A personalised golf ball

Day One – A Flying Start
Day one was played in a 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford format and Team Rest of the World came out strong, building quite a lead and making day two a tough challenge for Team England.

The Fashion Show
That evening our Surprizeshop Pop-Up Team, Chloe and Gemma, hosted the Surprizeshop fashion show with six fantastic WGL models — Kym, Camille, Tess, Gina, Jo and Carol.
We showcased pieces from the new Spring Summer 2026 collections including:
plus lots of new Surprizeshop accessories.
Last year’s fashion show was already one of the loudest we’ve ever had in our 27 years, but somehow this year managed to top even that.
One of the most special moments of the night came when Carol walked onto the runway. The whole room erupted into a standing ovation, with everyone cheering Carol’s name and clapping as she walked the catwalk.
Carol unexpectedly lost her leg last year, and her strength and positivity are truly inspiring. She is one of life’s most positive people, and seeing the whole room come together to support her was incredibly moving — there definitely weren’t many dry eyes in the room.

Day Two – The Final Matches
Day two saw the teams battle it out in singles matches. Team England came out fighting, but in the end Team Rest of the World held on to their lead and took the trophy again.
Gemma also took to the course to run a “Crush the County Champ” challenge on the 8th hole of the Forest Course, while Chloe organised a photo challenge, with the best photo winning a prize.

What a Community
The whole weekend was filled with laughs, friendly banter, new friendships and lots of great golf.
Events like this are exactly what women’s golf is all about - bringing people together, having fun and supporting each other.
A huge thank you to the Women’s Golf Lounge team, and most importantly Yvonne Brooke, for organising such an incredible weekend. We absolutely loved being part of it again and can’t wait to do it all again next year.
